Sermon 8-28-11 forgiveness 3 Colossians 3:12-17 GINGER
12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen , BUT POWERLESS PEOPLE, clothe yourselves with SADNESS, WORRY, ANGER, ARROGANCE AND DEPRESSION., 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another BUT STILL CARRY AROUND THE PAIN. Forgive NOT as the Lord forgave you – BUT SETTLE FOR HUMAN FORGIVENESS. 14 And over all these virtues put on SELFISHNESSS BECAUSE EVERYTHING REALLY IS ABOUT ME ANYWAY.
15 FEEL BAD BECAUSE the peace of Christ IS GOING TO HAVE TROUBLE rulING in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace BUT YOU REFUSE TO BURRY THE HATCHET. . 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, SAY YOU ARE DOING IT ALL FOR GOD, BUT WE KNOW THAT WE JUST CANT GET PAST STUFF..

If we are under condemnation, then are we living the life that god wants us to lead?
What this life might look like
I am forgiven and I forgive and I am working to heal the carnage
I know what I am supposed to do and that is enough. I’m not depending on anyone other than god to tell me that I am ok.

Remember who you are
I’m a sinner = identity
2 cor 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
I’m forgiven = new identity (in Christ I am a new creation…God is making all things new)
