On proverbs
Tulip plantingSermon 10-7-07 World Communion Sunday Acts 1:8
4On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5For John baptized with[a] water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."
6So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?"
7He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
World Communion Sunday
How big is your world?
Jesus asked his disciples to see a bigger world
Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, ends of the earth
This is very strange considering that Israel is 85x290 miles…..
Jerusalem = international city
Judea = comfortable
Samaria = outcasts
Ends of the earth =
How big is your world?
Age 0-7 totally turned on self
Age 7-20

But we are still very turned in on ourselves
Vocabulary: new word last week

We live at the center of our world, our culture is better
World communion Sunday begs us to consider that the body of Christ inhabits a bigger world than what we see…………
