Sermon 2 Peter 1:3-11 why are we here?
Veterans day. War movies “why are we here?” we have mission
What is our mission?
1st timers…..connect them to Christ
He has given us what we need v4
Participate in the divine nature
Great news…worth sharing
everyone else…..keep being connected
do not become awol
Faith, goodness, knowledge, self control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, love
These qualities increasing measure,
Not a ladder of steps
If so, love would be first
A reminder that we have not yet arrived
If someone indicates your attitude is poor, don’t be defensive, its an opportunity to grow
Don’t be Ineffective and unproductive
Make your calling and election sure. V10-11
Diligence leads to
Stability in grace
Triumphal entrance into glory
Rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord
Every runner runs the race to receive the prize
Soldier, bronze silver star, congressional medal of honor
Just to make the world a better place, to end tyranny
and create a world where hope abounds
Our mission, we have a race to run….
There is a prize, heavenly and earthly
Why are we here doing what we are doing? Because we want to help all people know and grow in the truth of Jesus Christ.
We believe that a purpose filled life is worth having and worth sharing.
1 cor 9:23-25I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings. 24Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
Thank you for what you have done in Christ. Keep running the race.
