Teamwork 1 Corinthians 12:14-27 8-15-04

Sermon 8-15-04 1 Cor 12:14-27 teamwork

Do you use snakes in your service?

Intro
Olympics are off the ground.
Well the chiefs started their fall campaign on Friday night.
In the game of life…A challenge lies before you. You are trying to do something…to win, to learn to do your best, to learn to play well with others. In the game of life, God is trying to do something too.

Scripture tells that that On God’s team, Everyone matters
We should have equal concern for one another
God has place the parts in the body just as he wanted them to be

How do you treat those who are lesser than you?
Are they really lesser than you?
Are we making discouraging talk?
Unknown clipper

Everyone is important
What about the kids who did not make the team….honor roll

Various different folks in church….not like you….that is ok.
All are welcome, all are accepted.
Think of the folks who are not like you. Do you want them to leave?

God in his sense of humor will place at the banquet table in heaven….Baptists across from Methodists, catholics across from fundamentalists. Republicans across from democrats
On gods team everyone matters

On Gods team Everyone has a role to play
God has place the parts in the body just as he wanted them to be

Geese in flight
Each one must take the lead so that others can rest
71% lift/ resting with the fallen/ honkers at back

You are not here for your own bidding, God has given you life so that you can fulfill your purpose on his team

1million excuses keep us from our purpose….
If you are gong to have a winning program you must set high expectations

Don’t wait to be asked
Don’t say that is someone else’s job

Some say…… say “I am unworthy”
Jesus changed the world with such people

Some wont play because they don’t like their position
Coach I want to play qb, no you want to play football

Some are Afraid: Calhoun story

Some aren’t paying attention: You can watch from the sidelines

Some lose heart…..Started track, wanted to quit. Dad said no.
Everyone must give their best

Are you satisfied to just wear the jersey or having the opportunity to play, are you giving it your best?

Conclusion
When we gauge our level of commitment to Christ
Are we engaged in the game? Giving it our best

Winners always want the ball when the game is on the line

Visioning, trying to do something isn’t always easy
You can get tackled, beat up
You can get crucitfied
But the call of the moment beckons us to act
To fulfill our purpose

Chiefs football…..cant expect to win with 4th qtr heroics

Coach boehm…friend, heart problem person
Talked about teresa and the boys
Cant promise you that you will be healed, do promise that every day that you live, you have a chance to be in God’s game and fulfill your purpose. I think He is going to do it. What about you?
