Sermon mt 20:20-28
Mom and the Christmas pageant………….
Its too much……who are you listening to
Luthers quote
A Christian is a perfectly free lord of all, subject to none. A Christian is also a perfectly dutiful servant of all, subject to all.
What are we doing…..
Doing Christian service or serving God
Mother of James and John……religious stuff
Jesus came not to be served but to serve
He served God
It’s a question of motives
Going thru the motions or connected to God
You cant do it all..you don’t have the gifts
Others wont do it like you do…they have different gifts
Is God calling you…..listen, do those things
Gods servants are ….truly submitted
Joyful
Not worried about stuff
Thankful for the many blessings
Are we serving others or serving God
Easy at church to get the two mixed up
Coach buck
You can watch from the sidelines
Have you talked to the master about serving?
Are you connected to him?
Sometimes we get too focused on the what we are doing
Forget the why, the who of Christian service
When we are serving God we are filled with joy and purpose
We are doing the right things for the right reasons
Let us be about our fathers business
